Available Positions in the Duncan Lab
Postdoctoral research associates
The Duncan Lab in the Fischell Department of Bioengineering at the University of Maryland (UMD) – College Park, is seeking applicants for an NIH-funded Postdoctoral Research Associate position. Successful candidates will join new collaborative and multidisciplinary projects in the application of gene therapy for chronic lung disease and infectious diseases.
Compensation for these positions will be at or above NIH guidelines, and will include benefits and retirement package offered by UMD. Postdoctoral research associates will be appointed on annual contracts with the expectation of completing 2-3 years of training. In addition to their assigned research project (described above), postdoctoral fellows will be encouraged and fully supported to develop & pursue new independent research directions, apply for fellowships & postdoc-to-faculty transition awards, and serve as research mentors for undergraduate & graduate trainees.
These positions require a doctoral degree in Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or similar areas. Applicants should possess excellent written & oral communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team. All applicants should have demonstrated experience in the design and characterization of non-viral gene delivery systems. This research will require work with in vivo models of allergic asthma and respiratory infection where prior experience with rodent models is desirable. Interested applicants should submit a cover letter (applicants should note preferred start date), a CV, and a list of references as a single PDF file to Gregg Duncan (gaduncan@umd.edu).
