Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Great Strides Walk
Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disorder which causes a life-shortening lung disease and no curative treatments are currently available. Each year, our lab participates in the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Great Strides Walk held in Washington, DC in June to help raise awareness and fundraise to support CF research. If interested in supporting our efforts, please visit our team page!

Maryland Day
Maryland Day is a 1-day event each Spring where the local community is welcomed to our campus and engaged in a range of hands-on activities. For this event, our lab has developed demonstrations to illustrate how our lungs work, how viruses cause infection, and how bioengineers can create new therapies to improve lung health.

Research internships for UMB CURE Scholars
We have partnered with the UMB CURE scholars program to provide paid summer research internships to Baltimore City high school students. This program is open to all current UMB CURE scholars interested in working in our lab at the UMD College Park campus. Scholars are paired with a graduate student or postdoc in our lab to be guided through an independent research project. Through this experience, scholars will have a better understanding of research at the intersection of engineering and biomedical science.
